IT was raining sixes as 11 players hit the maximum.

Top of the pile was Simon Jones who clanged off a double-sixer in his 15-doll haul for The New Club away at Red Lion A Kidlington. Lion won the opening leg 21-17 before New Club hit back in style, winning the next two legs 27-20, 29-21.

The George won the first leg at home to North Leigh FC 28-14 and then set a formidable 28 in the next leg. North Leigh’s last two players Adolfo Kerpache and Mark Rollins needed 10 to win the leg, but they fell one short with nine. However, North Leigh went on to win the leg on three sticks. The George won the deciding leg 24-21.

Lee Thompson with 14 dolls (5-5-4) guided The Swan to a maximum at Garsington Sports Club, winning the three legs 27-19, 25-24, 28-14.

After going last season unbeaten at home, Premier holders The Black Prince crashed to a 3-0 loss at home to Red Lion B Cassington. With a four-doll handicap, Red Lion took full advantage, winning all three legs 23-20, 32-21, 27-25.

In Section Two, Steve Walton whipped off 14 dolls including a six (4-4-6) but it could not prevent Donnington Club A falling to a 2-1 home defeat against Chequers B. Donnington set the second leg with 18 and looked on course to level the game when Chequers left anchor man Chris Webb needing all six to win. He fell one doll short with a five, but Chequers won the three-sticks shoot-out. Donnington won the final leg for a deserved point.

In Section Three, Kidlington FC B made it three wins out of three when they defeated visitors Yarnton British Legion 2-1. With the game poised at 1-1, Kidlington set 13 in the final leg, and with Legion hitting eight with the top half of the team, they seemed on course for victory, however the tail collapsed, hitting only three between them.

Mick Morbey top scored with 10 dolls (3-3-4) for Vikings Sports as they came away from Cricketers Littleworth with a 2-1 win. Losing the first leg, Vikings stormed back to take the next two 16-14, 15-10.

The Tandem lost at home to Donnington Club B 3-0, but it was closer than the score suggests. Donnington won 14-13 and 13-11, and completed the maximum again by the odd doll 16-15.
