Abingdon Amblers saw off Headington Roadrunners to finish second in the Ridgeway 86-mile multi terrain relay race from Ivinghoe Beacon to Marlborough.

Oz Ellis edged past Headington into second place by 16 seconds on the final leg.

Abingdon saved their best runners until the final three legs, pulling back a 15 minute deficit to seal second place in 10hrs 12mins 13secs.

The race was won by Vale of Aylesbury in a course record time of 9.30.58.

  • Gary Harris was third in the senior men's race at the annual Man v Horse multi-terrain 22-mile event in Llanwrtyd Wells, Wales.

  • Bicester's David Kuester finished fifth in the 60-64 category at the British Masters Weights Pentathlon Championships in Milton Keynes.

Kuester racked up 3,104 points and recorded a personal best of 12.86m in the heavy weight throw.

He was also second in the javelin (34.59).
