WITNEY Ladies took their second point in succession after returning from the winter break.

After conceding early on at home to Harleston Magpies, Lili Hargreaves pounced on a rebound to grab an instant equaliser.

After a busy first quarter, the second quarter was quieter and the half remained 1-1.

The Lambs took the lead three minutes into the third quarter when Sunny Wallis swept home after a scramble in the shooting circle, but the visitors made it 2-2 seven minutes later.

Witney retook the lead on 49 minutes from another penalty corner which saw Ellie Norton finish from a rebound.

Harleston levelled things up though with a penalty corner of their own with the last action of the third quarter.

Witney are playing in the second tier of English hockey for the first time, following four promotions in six seasons.

Lambs head coach Chris Boyle said: “That has been the aim of the season, to keep possession more.

“Last year we won by attacking at speed, by getting the ball from back to front.

“We can’t do that in this league, so we’ve had to be more comfortable on the ball and it’s nice for people to be noticing that on the sidelines because that’s what we’ve been working on all season.”
