Oxford City & County's Andy Crawley bowed out 21-9 to Devon's Rob Paxton in the first round of the English Indoor Bowling Association Champion of Champions Finals at Gunton Hall, Norfolk.
Crawley, winner of the City & County singles before reaching the last two in the west of England, went wood for wood with his Exonia rival in the first half of the match.
But in the second half, his international opponent raised his game to run out a convincing winner.
