OXFORD United goalkeeper Billy Turley is determined to put one over his old club, Stafford Rangers, at the Kassam Stadium today.

oHowever, he says his teammates will first need to win the battle before they can let their ability shine through.

Wolverhampton-born Turley began his goalkeeping life at Stafford and has fond memories of the place.

But all he's interested in this afternoon is helping the U's collect three points to make it three wins out of four in the Blue Square Premier.

"We had a meeting and the gaffer illustrated that this won't be an easy game," said Turley.

"Stafford have lost their first three, so it looks like a home banker - but it doesn't work like that.

"They're going to come to our ground, it's their Wembley - like a lot of teams, they'll think 'what a lovely pitch, lovely stadium' and everyone gets up for it.

"We've got to win the battle first and hopefully our quality on the big pitch, and our players' ability, will help us get a few goals."

United are likely to be unchanged following their excellent 2-1 victory at Burton, but there will need to be a change on the bench because Joel Ledgister has a slight knee strain.

Smith was annoyed that Ledgister felt the injury before the game at the Pirelli Stadium and didn't report it. He came on as a very late sub.

Michael Standing is fit again, but with Luke Foster doing well at Burton, both Standing and fellow midfielder Carl Pettefer may have to be content with places on the bench.

Burton's 2-1 win at Weymouth on Thursday shows what a good result it was for Oxford last Sunday.

Turley has kept two clean sheets to date in two games against his old club, and would love to make it three on the trot.

He said: "When I first started, I had a year there playing in the reserves. It was a good learning curve at the time, then I moved on to Stratford.

"It was a good year, I was training twice a week, and in those days Stafford were a big team in the Conference.

"Paul Devlin had just left and Stan Collymore had just left. Obviously they fell away a bit, but they've got back there.

"It was interesting returning there last year. I hadn't been there for about ten years, but the place hadn't changed.

"To me personally, it had got a bit smaller! It had seemed massive before, but that was probably because it was the first time I had trained under floodlights.""
