LANCE Williams has returned to Didcot Town after two seasons away.

The popular midfielder has been with the club throughout pre-season and signed on after helping the Railwaymen beat Redditch United 2-1 at home on Saturday.

Williams had turned out for North Leigh and Kidlington, scoring for the latter against Didcot on Boxing Day last season.

Boss Andy Ballard said: “Lance was a big loss to the club when he left for North Leigh a couple of seasons ago and to have the chance to bring him back to the club was a no-brainer for me.”

“He’s got great ability he knows the level and his experience could be vital to any success we hope to achieve this season.”

First-half goals from Callum McNish and George Reid did the job for Didcot on Saturday against their Evo-Stik Premier Division Central opponents.

It followed their 5-0 win over Uhlsport Hellenic League newcomers Shrivenham in midweek, via goals came from Seth Humphries, Brett Gardner, Felipe Barcelos, David Murphy and Reid.

Ryan Brooks scored Abingdon Town’s consolation in their 4-1 home defeat to Thame United.
