WHEATLEY Park booked their place in the last four of the David English/Bunbury Cup when beating Packwood Haugh School (Shropshire).
They continued their impressive run in the indepedent school-dominated national competition, with a thrilling three-wicket win in the Midlands final at the Dragon School.
Packwood elected to bat and were dismissed for 169 in 35 overs, Charlie Turner (3-36) and Jake Mackay (3-19) doing the damage.
The visitors found themselves on 119-6.
But Turner switched from his usual pace to off-spin and took three wickets, before the innings came to an end with a run out.
Wheatley’s reply suffered a blow when Turner was dismissed for a first-ball duck.
They slipped to 87-4 with only 12 overs left.
But Saif Dogar (71no) and Mackay helped lead Wheatley to a thrilling victory.
They now face Queen Elizabeth Grammar School (Yorkshire) in the semi-finals.
