EDDIE Pepperell’s fine form on the European Tour continued with an excellent opening round at the Portugal Masters.
Following on from top-five finishes in the Czech Republic and the Netherlands, the Abingdon golfer carded a five-under-par 66 in Vilamoura.
He is just two shots off the lead, held jointly by playing partner George Coetzee and Joost Luiten.
Starting at the tenth, the 26-year-old birdied five of his opening seven holes.
He picked up one more shot on the front nine, before a bogey at the seventh provided the only blemish.
Pepperell’s second round begins on Friday at 7.50am.
