BANBURY United’s board will not hurry the appointment of a new chairman following Ronnie Johnson’s resignation.
Work commitments have forced Johnson to reluctantly step down after almost two years at the helm.
He said: “I leave with the satisfaction of a job well done in resurrecting this famous club.
“I have found myself getting stressed over issues I cannot control in recent weeks and I knew it was time to call it a day.”
The Puritans board have now released a statement to clarify what happens next.
It reads: “The club is functioning well with existing Board members all having clear roles.
“We do not need to rush into making a decision to appoint a new chair.
“We will consider the skills needed to help the club develop.
“We are not going to get another Ronnie, he is a one-off!
“However we hope to appoint someone who can help us in different ways.”
Those interested in being co-opted on to the board should email Stephen Barlow at secretary@banburyunitedfc.co.uk.
