NORTH Leigh’s play-off ambitions took a further hit when they were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw at home to ten-man Larkhall Athletic.

George Seacole’s second-half equaliser had given the Millers hope of claiming victory, but the hosts could not find a way through.

It leaves John Brough’s side 11 points adrift of the Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West play-offs, but they do have up to three games in hand over sides above them.

The Millers handed home debuts to Oxford United loanee Malachi Napa and new signing Andy Gunn.

It did not take long for the hosts to open the scoring as Michael Hopkins fired past goalkeeper Ben John on nine minutes.

But within 12 minutes the Millers found themselves 2-1 down, thanks to a quick-fire double from Josh Egan.

He turned in a Jamie Lyons cross to equalise, before smashing another effort past goalkeeper Manny Agboola.

The Millers levelled on 56 minutes when Seacole brushed off a challenge and fired the ball into the far corner.

Larkhall’s Jay Adams was sent off late in the game for a high tackle on Napa.

But both sides had chances to win it, with Larkhall’s Joe Raynes testing Agboola, while Seacole and Napa were a constant threat for the Millers.

North Leigh: Agboola, Lymn, Wellon, Gunn, Hole, Sysum, Fawke, L Williams, Seacole, Napa, Hopkins Subs not used: Turk, D James, R James, M Williams, Cook.

Didcot Town’s difficult start to 2017 continued as they lost 2-1 at AFC Totton.

The home side looked the brighter and were awarded a penalty on 12 minutes for handball.

Didcot goalkeeper Leigh Bedwell saved Nathaniel Sherborne’s penalty, but was unable to prevent the Totton man turning in the rebound to make it 1-0.

The hosts continued to look dangerous, but were stunned when George Jeacock levelled for Didcot on 36 minutes, beating goalkeeper Charlie Seattle with a low long-range strike.

Totton retook the lead just before the hour mark as Charlie Gibson fired past Bedwell.

Didcot went in search of an equaliser as Callum McNish and Ben Whitehead went close, but they were unable prevent their winless run being extended to eight games.

Didcot Tn: Bedwell, Elkins, Organ, Thomas (Ballard 59), Cattell, Learoyd, Jeacock, McNish, B Whitehead, Joyce (Longford 72), Barder (Andrady 61), Sub not used: H Whitehead.

Attendance: 63.

Wantage Town lost 2-0 at home to Shortwood United.

First-half goals from Steve Davies and Ryan Meredith proved enough for the visitors.

The Alfredians remain second from bottom, but are now 11 points from safety after Slimbridge beat Evesham United.

Davies broke the deadlock on 13 minutes.

Wantage should have levelled moments later, only for Kalum Youngsam to blaze over from six yards after goalkeeper Rhys Lovett parried Mark Francis’s effort.

The visitors made it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time when Meredith lifted the ball over keeper Eddie Cavanagh.

Wantage’s Youngsam forced Lovett into a save.

Cavanagh kept out Nick Peare’s free-kick at the other end, before Ed Weeks headed against the crossbar.
