CHRIS Maguire cannot wait to experience the Kassam Stadium being rocked by a full house as Oxford United take aim at another Emirates FA Cup scalp.

Sky Bet Championship title favourites Newcastle United are the visitors for the fourth round tie, which has been sold out for more than a week.

Maguire was part of the U’s side who stunned Premier League club Swansea City 3-2 on home soil last season and knows a similar atmosphere awaits this afternoon.

“We did it to Swansea last year and we know if we get the crowd behind us we’ll give it a good go,” he said.

“We’ll give them the respect they need, but you can’t show them too much.

“You’ve seen it before in cup competitions, disappointments happen and hopefully we can give them one.

“When that place is full it’s rocking and everyone gets a lift from it.

“It’s the talk all week that everyone knows it’s sold out and that gets the hype going with the boys.

“When we come out for the warm-up we’ll be able to feel the buzz. I’m sure it will be lively.”

It is 23 years since the U’s last reached the fifth round, knocking out Leeds United in a famous replay win at Elland Road.

If Michael Appleton’s side are going to get into Monday’s draw for the last-16, they will need key players like Maguire to hit top gear.

A thigh problem saw him miss training this week, but it is hoped the Scot, who tends to deliver in the highest profile games, will recover in time to end his seven-game barren run in front of goal.

He said: “The bigger the game I always feel I can rise to the occasion and hopefully the same comes again.

“We’ve got boys here who want to play at their level and to do that you’ve got to come up against good players.

“It’s up to us to get after them straight away. If we do that it will give them a bit of a fright.”

If Maguire is fit, United could name the same XI which started the 4-0 win at Rochdale a week ago.

But there is likely to be a new name on the bench as youth team goalkeeper Manny Agboola has been recalled from his loan at North Leigh to stand in for the cup-tied Jack Stevens and injured Benji Buchel (knee).

Newcastle have a host of players missing and will make changes.

Top-scorer Dwight Gayle is among their injury list (hamstring), while Mo Diame, Christian Atsu and Chancel Mbemba are on duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.
