OXFORD Hawks fell to a late goal as they lost 1-0 at Buckingham in the Investec Women’s Conference West, despite an improved display.

With Hawks’ keeper Jess Hughes in good form and Emily Taylor making some fine tackles, defences dominated the game, despite a commanding midfield display by Gemma Darlington for the visitors.

However, with nine minutes left, Buckingham broke the deadlock with a near-post goal.

Despite leading at half-time, Oxford went down 4-1 at home to Brighton & Hove in South Clubs League Division 2.

Floor Timmer latched on Ellie Yuill’s pass to squeeze the ball past the Brighton keeper to put Oxford ahead.

But they conceded four goals in ten minutes and never recovered, also missing a penalty flick.

Witney returned to winning ways with a stunning 6-1 win at home to Southgate in Division 3A, thanks to a brilliant second-half display.

It was only 1-1 at half-time, Witney’s goal coming from Ellie Kearney.

But in a devastating second half, they added five more goals through Amy Williams (2), Sunny Ricketts, Hayley Dobson and Kate Oliver.

NIALL Devaney struck in the last minute to rescue a point for Oxford in a 2-2 draw at home to PHC Chiswick in the men's South League Regional Division 1.

Following a below-bar display, Oxford found themselves 2-0 down just after half-time to goals from Andrew Brown and Jonathan Palmer.

But for some saves by keeper Callum Chapman, Oxford would have been even further behind.

They were still trailing 2-0 with six minutes left, but goals from Connor Savage and Devaney – with a drag flick – secured an unlikely draw.

Oxford Hawks triumphed 4-1 at home to London Wayfarers in Premier Division 1, thanks to goals from Jack Biggs, Dan Rhodes, Tom Sobey and Matt Wood.

Witney came from behind to thrash visitors Ramgarhia 7-2 to keep up their promotion chase in Middlesex, Berks, Bucks & Oxon Division 1.

The hosts trailed twice in the first half, but stormed back to win thanks to a super four-timer from Ben Wells plus further goals by Ben Moss (2) and Ryan Fitz John.
