NORTH Leigh’s Emirates FA Cup run could ‘put the club on the map’, according to boss John Brough.

The Millers entertain Ryman League Premier Division side Folkestone Invicta tomorrow looking to reach the fourth qualifying round for the first time in the club’s history.

Brough is hoping a bumper crowd will turn out to see his side and believes it is the perfect opportunity for the Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West outfit to showcase what they are capable of.

“It’s a great chance for us to get some finance in and to lift the profile of the club,” he said.

“Games like this can put a football club on the map.”

Brough added: “I’ve not seen everyone in this league yet, but in terms of the football being played I can’t see many of them being better than us.”

High-profile strikers Jamie Cook and Aaron Woodley are both out with knee injuries, but replacement George Seacole has netted eight goals in his last five games.

One of those came in the previous round, when the Millers stunned Vanarama National League South side Weston-Super-Mare 2-1.

And Brough is optimistic of repeating the feat this weekend.

He said: “We’re confident we’re good enough to get another result.

“Going into the Weston game I had a feeling we would do well and as soon as the game started I said they were there for the taking.

“There’s no reason we can’t do it again on Saturday.”

Defender Matt Woodley is the only other player to miss out for the Millers, due to unavailability.

Tuesday night’s late heroics from Jack Self have filled Banbury United manager Mike Ford with confidence as his side attempt to upset National League South hosts Wealdstone.

Self struck deep in stoppage time to earn the Puritans a 1-1 draw at home to Merthyr Town in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division and extend their unbeaten run to six games.

Ford believes the boost that result has provided has come at the perfect time.

He said: “If you wanted something to happen to give my players the confidence to go away to a higher league team and totally believe they can win then it’s what happened on Tuesday.

“The players are on such a high – I couldn’t have scripted it better.”

In contrast, the Banbury boss believes the mood in the Wealdstone camp is quite the opposite.

Ford added: “Their home record’s not great and there’s a bit of disquiet about their result at the weekend (a 2-1 defeat to Truro City), so they’re under huge pressure.

“If we go there and win it won’t come as a surprise to me at all.

“In a one-off game I would fancy us against anyone from that level.”

The cup-tied Marvin Martin is Banbury’s only absentee this weekend.
