PETE Clarke overcame a difficult day on the water to win Littlemore AS’s Tony Perks Roach Cup on the River Thames at Sandford.
The 17 competitors scratched around to find a weight, but Clarke put together a net of small roach on the hemp/tare and waggler for 7lb 9oz 0drms.
His winning haul also earned him the £68 golden peg.
Chris Webb came second with 5.02.0, opting for waggler and catching all his roach on caster.
Brian Hutching, who fished on the pole with hemp and tare, was third with 4.10.0.
ERNIE Smith clinched the penultimate round of the Yarnton and District AC Summer League.
Held on College Farm at Ahyno, Smith caught five good fish on halibut pellet for a winning weight of 25.07.0.
Jamie Godfrey was second with 19.01.0, and Anthony Williams third with 17.07.0.
TERRY Lester claimed Kidlington AS’s Wayne Hagar Memorial match on the River Cherwell.
Lester triumphed with 61.14.0 of mostly roach on pole with maggot, edging second-placed Jason Bean, who weighed in with 61.03.0.
Henry Clarke was third with 51.10.0 on the stick float and whip with maggot and worm.
