OXFORD Saints cruised past Cornish Sharks to book a place in the Southern Conference West Division 2 play-off semi-finals.

Tony Glover scored a hat-trick in the 40-3 victory, which set up a home tie against Bristol Apache this Sunday, when a win would set up Saints’ first final appearance since 2006.

Saints beat the Sharks home and away during the regular season, but took time to establish a lead.

The first quarter saw just one score – Glover finishing from a yard to give the hosts a 6-0 lead.

Saints built a commanding lead in the second quarter.

James Walter burst over from close range, before Glover charged through the middle to claim the extra two points.

Glover claimed his second score, smashing through the Cornish defence from seven yards.

Fielden successfully kicked the extra point and added a field goal from 23 yards to give Saints a 24-0 lead at half-time.

Glover completed his hat-trick in the third quarter and Richard Bloomer secured the catch to add another two points.

David Kriehn ensured Sharks avoided a whitewash by kicking a 30-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter.

But the hosts had the final say.

After good work by Walter, Ryan Kingshott crossed the line for Saints’ fifth and final touchdown.

Walter ran in the extra two points to seal a convincing victory ahead of the showdown with Bristol Apache at Tilsley Park.

Kick-off is at 2.30pm.
