TONY Hobbs was a clear winner of the first round of the Oxford Summer League, fished by eight teams of six anglers on the Thames at Abingdon and Culham.
The Drennan Oxford Yellow matchman, drawn in the rushes at Culham, had a brilliant first two hours and had 18 bream in his winning weight of 52lb 12oz 0drms.
Ian Young (Drennan Oxford Blue) had eight early bream in the wood at Culham for second place with 33.12.0.
John Hassler (Isis) was third with 17.7.0.
Drennan Oxford Blue won the team match from their Yellow team by four points.

Gerry Foley, from Kidlington, won the sixth round of the Oxford Carp League with a weight of 61.14.0 from the big lake at Barston Fishery Solihull.
Bicester’s Nick Bryan was second with 52.10.0, of mainly skimmers and bream, while Paul Dann, from Didcot, came third with 40.14.0.
Bob Alder was a clear winner of Beehive AC’s Top Tackle Pairs match on Frobury Farm.
Alder had a mixed bag of carp, rudd and tench for 58.0.0.
Les Radford was runner-up with 38.0.0 to pole and maggot, while Dave Wilson was third with 31.0.0.
Alder and Dale Keeping were the top pair.
The clear winner of Kidlington AS’s outing to Laura’s Lagoon was Terry Lester, with a weight of 54.0.0. His biggest fish was a 13lb 8oz carp.
Second was Dave Pether, who caught two large carp for 34.0.0, while Jason Bean was third with 30.12.0.
