NORTH Oxford capped a fine debut season in the North Berks League by upsetting holders Burghclere 3-2 after extra time to lift the War Memorial Cup, writes PHIL ANNETS.

Rob O’Hagan and Alex Smith scored for Burghclere either side of goals from Dean Boyles and Aaron Andrews for North Oxford to take the game into extra time.

The Division 3 side’s winner came in the ninth minute of additional time when Tom Hooper headed on a ball for Jack Hinkin to bundle it over the line.

Rhys Griffiths scored the only goal of the game as Sutton Courtenay won 1-0 at home to Westminster in Division 2.

Division 3 champions Harwell Village were presented with their trophy ahead of their match with Benson Lions.

But they were unable to follow that up with victory as they were beaten 4-2.

Luke Willis, Adam McLeish, Tam Hearns and Alex Smallshaw all netted to win the game for Lions.

Gareth Fenton and Carl Fisher scored for Harwell.

Grove Rangers kept alive their outside chance of finishing in the top two with a 3-2 home win over Compton.

Matt Cramp scored twice alongside a Jamie Wilkins effort while Jack Fisher and Ed Goatley found the back of the net for Compton.

Callum Bowler bagged a brace for Long Wittenham Athletic Res in their 2-1 win at Kennington Athletic in Division 4.

George Lovegrove was on target for the hosts, but it wasn’t enough.

In Division 5, Hagbourne United Res pummelled hosts Marcham Res 7-2.

Warren Ralph netted twice alongside goals from Neil Pether, Chris McCormack, Jamie Clark, Mason Churton and Grant Cox for United.

All of the scheduled Division 1 games were called off.
