OXFORD Rugby League boosted their chances of finishing ninth in Kingstone Press League 1 with a 38-16 victory over Hemel Stags in their penultimate game of the season.
Seven different players got on the scoresheet, while Nathan Kitson kicked five goals.
Kyle Danns opened the scoring for the Blues and Kitson added the extras.
Three minutes later, Adam Withington increased their lead, but Kitson missed the conversion.
And Josh Nathaniel scored try number three, with Kitson making no mistake with the boot this time.
Hemel finally got on the scoreboard, when Liam O’Callaghan touched down and Charlie Lawrence added the extras.
But a try from Luke Evans and a conversion by Kitson saw Oxford lead 22-6 at half-time.
Hemel came out of the blocks firing and Ashley Fyson and Thibault Cousinie crossed for converted tries.
However, Oxford woke up and reclaimed the upper hand, Andy Speake running through a gap in the defence for an easy touchdown.
Kitson made no mistake with the conversion.
The Blues wrapped up the game when Louis Richards and Craig Cook dived over.
Kitson converted the latter score as Oxford moved level on points with ninth-placed University of Gloucestershire All Golds.
They finish the season against league leaders Oldham at Iffley Road on Saturday.
