RYAN Brooks scored twice and missed a penalty as Kidlington beat Ascot United 2-1 in the extra preliminary round of the Emirates FA Cup.

However, they had to do it the hard way as the hosts took the lead through James West on 22 minutes.

Brooks levelled just before the break and had a golden opportunity to give Kidlington the lead on 56 minutes when a penalty was awarded for handball, but his tame effort was saved by Chris Grace.

However, Brooks sealed victory six minutes later, slotting home a rebound.

Abingdon United lost 3-0 to Brimscombe &Thrupp at Northcourt Road.

First half goals from Joe Tustain and Ollie Pitt gave the visitors a 2-0 lead and they put the tie to bed on 70 minutes when Karl Nash lobbed Keiron Brown.

Ardley United suffered a 4-1 defeat at home to Tuffley Rovers.

With half an hour gone, the visitors were 2-0 up, thanks to Jack Goode and Macauley Herbert.

After the break, Ardley pulled a goal back through Chris Jackson, but Stuart Griffith and Mark Ford helped Tuffley advance.

Elsewhere, Milton United beat Holyport 3-1, while Hook Norton thrashed Frimley Green 5-0.

Meanwhile, Dan Hoskin’s brace helped Letcombe to a 4-0 win over Cirencester Town Development in Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 West.
