Banbury continued their run of steam-rollering opponents with a resounding seven-wicket victory at Harefield in Division 1 on Saturday.

Seamer Ollie Wright and all-rounder Richard West led the way as Banbury dismissed the hosts for 118, on the way to their third win which keeps them joint top with fellow 100-per-cent sides Henley and High Wycombe.

Wright took three early wickets, including that of opener Simon Macey for 34, as Harefield, who were inserted on losing the toss, slumped to 38-4.

Liam Manley had started the collapse by dismissing overseas player Jalpesh Vijay.

Banbury skipper Luke Ryan added to the home side’s problems by running out Robert Tidey.

Dan Ogden and Lee Tyrrell led a mini-revival before off-spinner West wrapped the tail in double quick time.

West captured 4-16 in 5.3 overs – two victims being caught by keeper Tim Paine – as their last four wickets fell for 19.

Wright finished with an impressive 3-18 from his ten overs of seam.

Former Australian Test player Paine was run out for four.

But that was a rare hiccup as Banbury sped to victory.

Hugo Darby made a composed 37, while West completed a memorable match with an unbeaten 32 from 51 balls as Banbury passed the target in the 27th over.

They will expect to face a stiffer test at home to Henley this Saturday.
