Oxfordshire bid to cap an outstanding season with victory over Durham in the ESFA Under 16 Inter County Trophy final at Birmingham City’s St Andrew’s ground on Friday (6.30).

The side have gone through the campaign unbeaten, having been crowned champions in the South West Counties competition.

After being handed a walkover by Leicestershire & Rutland in the national competition, they have gone on to beat Kent 2-1, Middlesex 2-0 and Norfolk 3-0 to reach the final.

The match is a repeat of the 2012 final, when Oxfordshire beat Durham 6-2 after extra time at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground.

Manager Andy Ransome said: “This is a really hard-working group of boys.

“It’s been no surprise they’ve gone through the season undefeated.

“Beating Durham at St Andrew’s will be just reward, but we realise we face a tough game.”
