Ben Gray kept Oakley United’s Premier Division title hopes alive with the only goal of the game at Horspath in the Oxfordshire Senior League.
An even game was settled on the half-hour mark with a spectacular long-range effort.
It saw Oakley, who had been stuttering, move within three points of leaders Oxford University Press.
The top two play in midweek ahead of their final games this Saturday.
Oakley hosted Horspath last night, while OUP visit Marston Saints this evening.
Charlton Res claimed only their third Division 2 win of the season with a 2-1 success at Oakley United Res.
Oli Stringer put the home side in front from close range.
But the basement boys hit back after the break, levelling with an own goal from Josh Lingard before Leon Safroniou hit the winner.
