Roy Parsons has stepped down after 20 years as head bailiff of Linear Fisheries (Oxford) Ltd.

Parsons helped the fishery grow from its humble beginning with just four lakes to the 11 lake carp fishery it has become today.

Director Len Gurd said: “Roy has been a mainstay at Oxford and someone that we and the fishery could always trust and rely on.

“I know that after all these years working together, he will certainly be missed, not just by us, but by all those that have got to know him over the years.

“He is one of angling’s characters, a legend in the world of carp angling – the like of which we may never see again.”

Parsons will be replaced by Ian Roper who has been a part-time bailiff in the last two years. In all he has been associated with the fishery for more than ten years.

He takes up his new post on April 20.

Roper will report to Chris Blunt, who has just been promoted to general manager.

l KEVIN Jeacock made the most of a calm Wood Lake to win Beehive AC’s TopTackle points league match with 84lb 2ozs carp and chub to pole maggot and corn.
