SAM Cornish clinched the deciding bout as Oxford University came from 3-1 down to win the Varsity kickboxing match 4-3 against Cambridge.
Cornish took all three rounds against Denys Natykan to secure an overall victory.
Cambridge had appeared on the verge of taking the competition when they came out on top in three of the first four fights.
Radhika Sholapurkar was Oxford’s only winner early on, as Amanda Buyan, Chris Gunther and Eli Slama were all edged out.

It left Oxford needing to win the final three bouts to take the title.
Pijus Brazauskas got the ball rolling with victory over Rob Hume, before Jakub Sliwinski made it 3-3.
It set up a tense finale, where Cornish’s higher output of attacking kicks proved crucial.
