After 15 months out of the ring, Jordan Flynn showed signs of rustiness on his return to action for Berinsfield.
The 19-year-old, who has gone back to his home stage after things failed to work out for him at London’s Repton Club, gained a unanimous points victory over the experienced Jason Ofori, from Islington, at Banbury.
After dominating the first two rounds with the speed of his footwork, Flynn tired badly in the third, but had done enough for victory.
On the same bill, Berinsfield’s Georgina White gained a unanimous points verdict over Banbury’s strong fighter KateWarner, in a contest that kept the crown entertained until after midnight.
Berinsfield’s Chloe Gorringe lost on a split points decision to Adrianna Finch (Boston) in the national female championships semi-final in Ferryhill, Durham.

OXFORD University were forced to hand over the Truelove Bowl after a 6-3 defeat away to Cambridge in the Varsity Match.
The Dark Blues had won for the previous four years, but were hit by the withdrawal of two important middleweights.
Patrick Yeo lost the opening bout on a unanimous points decision, but Oxford won the next two contests.
Oxford captain James Kerr, beat Dave Wen by a unanimous points decision in his 60kg bout, while Matthew McFahn recorded a spectacular first-round win over Cambridge president Steve McGregor.
McGregor was knocked down within 15 seconds and went down again 20 seconds later, at which point Cambridge threw in the towel.
But the Light Blues took the next three bouts for a 4-2 lead.
New boy Tianhao Xu provided some respite for Oxford, beating Dave Williams to win in the second round.
But Borna Guevel took the decisive bout for Cambridge.
