Banbury United manager Paul Davis has urged his players to keep up the good work when the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division basement boys travel to Bideford tomorrow.

Davis, whose side are four points adrift, said he was delighted by the team’s response after a 5-1 defeat by Hereford last time out.

On Tuesday, they beat Evesham United 1-0 in an FA Trophy first-qualifying round replay after the first match ended in a 2-2 draw.

“It was nice to get a win,” said Davis. “Hereford was the lowest of the low and I don’t think we can get any lower.

“But I sat down with the players and went through it on the dvd and some of them admitted they had not stepped up to the plate.”

Davis said Bideford would be tough, but hopes Didcot Town coach Andy Sinnott, can provide some help.

Sinnott, who worked with Davis as part of Oxford City’s backroom staff, saw them beat Bideford 2-1 after a replay.

“Didcot played them twice in the space of 48 hours, so we know what to expect,” said Davis.

“It’s the first time we get to play one of the teams around us, so we have to stand up and be counted.”

Meanwhile, Banbury will be without Harry White after he joined Gloucester City.

He scored against Gloucester in a Senior Cup game when he was on trial at Bristol Rovers, but has now signed a deal with the Vanarama Conference North outfit.

But the future is not yet clear on Shepherd Murom-bedzi, who is on trial at Championship club Leeds United.

Davis said: “Shepherd tells me he is doing well, but he has not heard anything from the club, which is unfair on him.”

Jack Westbrook and Ben Whitehead return, while Tom Ryan faces a flate fitness test.

Banbury Utd (v Bideford Tn, away): from Bedwell, Cray, Lynn, Mzungwana, Martin, Fishwick, Howards, Hawtin, Shama, Walcott, Browne, Houston, Tappin, Ryan, Jervis, Hawtin, Whitehead, Westbrook.
