JAKE Wright says Oxford United’s lack of form is not a source of worry – yet.
While the side have had praise for performances this season, results have not followed suit.
The U’s have won once in eight outings in all competitions this season, a run which was extended with a 2-0 defeat at Cheltenham Town in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on Tuesday night.
Only goal difference is keeping them off the bottom of Sky Bet League Two ahead of the trip to Southend United on Saturday.
Wright acknowledged there would come a stage where a lack of wins would become an issue, but it had not been reached.
“No, not yet, not concerned,” the United skipper said.
“Obviously if it keeps going on and on you’re going to get concerned.
“But the reason I’m not is because of what’s happening in the changing room, on the training ground and how we’re playing.
“If we keep playing in the right way and creating chances we’ll be fine, but I can’t keep coming and saying that, we need a win as soon as possible.”
A key reason for the defender’s upbeat tone is down to head coach Michael Appleton.
Wright said: “He’s been positive with us and is keeping us confident.”
