Teammates Dick Walsh and Roger Good-all will do battle for the Greene King Oxford & District League's singles trophy on finals night at the city’s Kassam Stadium on Friday, October 17, writes ANDY BEAL.

The deadly Six Bells Kidlington duo won their semi-finals to advance to the decider for the first time.

Goodall defeated Darren Cox (Team Monarch) 2-0, while Dick Walsh had to come from behind to beat Rob Bradford (Ampleforth Arms A) 2-1.

They then teamed up in the Oxford pairs, but were defeated by Kevin Giles and Neil Lyon (Three Pigeons) 2-1.

Robert Taylor and John Horton (New Club A) beat Alan Surman and Ady Cross (Six Bells C Kidlington) 2-0 in the other semi-final.

In the parent and child semi-finals, Dave, who hit a six, and Ben Green (Chequers) defeated Mick and Mick Phipps (Three Pigeons) 2-1.

Pete and Jason Coates (Red Lion Eynsham) squeezed past Keith and Tony Bull (Team Monarch) 2-1 in the other semi-final.

The under 18s final will be between Leighton Sewell (Team Monarch) and Elliot Greenough (Original Swan A), who beat Liam Coaster (Masons) and Ben Carter (Team Monarch) respectively.

Bullnose Morris A have become this season’s first champions by claiming the Section 3 title with a 3-0 win at closest rivals Crown A.

Willy Waite, with a dozen dolls including a six, led the way as they won all three legs 24-18, 24-14, 22-16.

Six Bells C Kidlington have one hand on the Premier Section title after coming away from defending champions Cricketers B with a 2-1 win.

The opening leg was tied 27-27, with Six Bells winning it on three sticks.

Cricketers levelled by taking the next 27-23, but the leaders proved too strong in the decider, coming out on top 28-23.

Roger Goodall (4-5-4) top-scored for Six Bells with 13 dolls, while Den Sellar (4-5-6) shone for Cricketers with 15.

Three Pigeons lost ground on Six Bells with a 2-1 defeat at home to Red Lion A Eynsham.

Chasing 26 in the opening leg, Red Lion anchor man Keith Powell was left needing five to win it.

He missed with his first stick, but clanged off the next five to seal the leg win.

Red Lion took the next 33-30, before Pigeons grabbed a point in the final leg 29-28.

Paul Townsend (6-4-5) hit 15 dolls and Kevin Giles (5-4-5) smashed off 14 for Three Pigeons, while Lee Thompson (3-4-6) led the way for Red Lion with 13.

The Woodman triumphed 2-1 at home to Ampleforth Arms A in the battle of the top two in Section 2.

The hosts won the first two legs 21-14, 25-19, before losing the last 24-19.

Six Bells Quarry drop down to third after another defeat, this time 2-1 at home to Vikings Sports B.

They lost the first leg 23-20 and then set 18 in the second leg, which looked like it would be enough until Vikings anchor man Allan Davies clanged off the five dolls needed to snatch victory by the odd doll.

Six Bells salvaged a point in the final leg 20-18.

In Section 4, Alan Bolster (4-2-6) bagged a six in his dozen dolls as Pheasant Inn A won 3-0 at New Club C.

Vikings Sports D opened up a two-point lead at the top of Section 5 after a 2-1 win at second-placed New Club B.

David Gardiner (4-4-4) led the way with 12 dolls.

Section 6 is still wide open with only six points separating nine of the ten teams.

King & Queen boosted their chances with a 2-1 win at Six Bells D Kidlington.

John Cleaton hit his first maximum six in many a long year as King & Queen came from behind to win.
