NEGOTIATIONS will continue over the next few days as Oxford United attempt to sign one more attacking player before the transfer window closes.

Head coach Michael Appleton is keen to make one more addition before the deadline, which is at 11pm on September 1.

He said: “I want someone in before Monday, I’ve made that pretty clear.

“I’ve got so many lists I’m running out of stationery at the minute.

“We’re in discussions with various people and I’d like to think that one of them will drop by Monday.”

He and chief executive Mark Ashton face a hectic few days to try and clinch a deal, or they will have to fall back on a loan signing when the window re-opens a week later.

Appleton said: “We’ve got various options, there are a few that would be a permanent and that would be my ideal choice.

“But if that doesn’t materialise we’ll have to look at the loan market.”
