Wayne Brown will be part of Oxford United’s coaching staff next season after signing a new contract.

The 37-year-old’s existing deal, which was as a player/coach, was due to expire this summer.

He will no longer be part of the playing staff, but has signed a two-year agreement to stay as United’s goalkeeping coach.

U’s head coach Gary Waddock said: “I think Wayne’s done very well and he’s got very good contacts.”

Brown will continue to oversee the development of senior professionals Ryan Clarke and Max Crocombe, but is also believed to be keen to make improvements in the goalkeeping department.

Another waste of space, like Melville has done he should leave thru the exit door and never return. We need modern forward thinking coaches who will drag this club kicking and screaming into the modern era. Despite the fact we only used 23 players our wage bill is still far too high for a League 2 club and unless the club unloads a lot of the deadwood, which it hasn't so far we will continue to fester and not prosper and move forward. The stadium rent also needs addressing and unless it is we will never get a decent squad capable of winning things. The future of the football club worries me and nobody from the Chairman down appears to be doing anything to sort matters out.

The club has little choice but to pick up players from the pool out of contract. At this level it is the clubs who find the right blend, have some luck and stay motivated that succeed. Whilst we continue to pay £600,000 per annum on renting the unsuitable Kassam Stadium we have little chance of making BIG steps forward quickly. Will we manage to find a better Centre Forward than Beano is a concern isn't it.

it seems that the club only want to give press statement for the minor things that sound good like Wayne brown staying at the club why are the directors not releasing some sort of statement to boost season tickets rather than nonsensical reports like the one above.if we want to get out of this league or avoid relegation next season lets have some movement in the back room and get some players in and the dead wood out as promised.

It's ironic. We all talk about how the players are playing rubbish because of rubbish coaches yet our goalie has been superb all season and yet you are angry that the guy coaching him has resigned.

A poor keeper when he made a couple of appearances.
This club is becoming a joke !
