TIDDINGTON'S  first home match in the top flight turned into a disaster when they were battered by Banbury 2nd and failed to earn a single point.

After a steady start, the home side slumped from 30 without loss to 88 all out, Ollie Wright (5-37) being responsible for much of the carnage.

Tiddington tried six bowlers in a vain attempt to make a breakthrough, but Ian Tew (39no) and Andrew Sabin (31no) led the visitors to 89 without loss.

Oxford Downs looked on course for victory when they amassed 239-6 from their 53 overs after being asked to bat at Twyford.

Darryl Woods (57), Phil King (46no), Wasim Mehmood (40) and Justin Cantrell (38) were all in the runs for Downs.

Zawar Hussain took 3-21 for the home side, who timed the run chase to perfection, reaching 240-7 with two balls to spare for a three-wicket victory thanks to Rory Lyon (75) and Dave Powles (54).

Wolverton Town had the better of their match against Cumnor, who beat them to the Division 2 title last summer.

Zahook Malik (73) and Jude Ramanadanpulle (42) helped Town reach 223 before being bowled out, as Sam Jones (4-15) and Tom Ingram (3-30) impressed with the ball.

Muhammad Shahzad then took 4-35 to put the hosts in command, and it was left to Ingram (52no) to stave off defeat as the visitors closed on 193-9.

Great Brickhill asked Buckingham Town to bat and then chased leather as Ash Pearson racked up 119 not out in the visitors’ 288-6.

Jack Parish (46) and Simon Myatt (40) also made the Brickhill bowlers suffer, though George Humphries (3-42) enjoyed some success.

Doug Aris (48), Patrick Prasad (44) and Barry Webb (40no) ensured the home side were never in any great trouble as they reached 221-7 at stumps.
