FOOTBALL: Gee backs Millers to bounce back
7:00am Friday 25th April 2014 in Sport
North Leigh manager Mark Gee says his side will bounce back stronger after missing out on the Calor League Division 1 South & West play-offs.
Needing to beat Clevedon to stay in contention last Saturday, the Millers, who host Paulton Rovers tomorrow, lost 1-0.
“We tried to get the players to relax,” said Gee. “We hit the bar and missed chances and the longer it went on the more anxious we got.
“We should have sealed our place weeks ago, so we only have ourselves to blame.
“If we can keep the players and bring in new faces we can have a real go at it.
He added: “We had a bad November and a lot of games were off.
“We then went six or seven games without a win.
“We are ten points better off than we were this time last season and we need to improve again.” Didcot Town joint manager Ian Concannon has urged his side to keep up the good work at Mangotsfield.
Although Town confirmed their status earlier this month, Concannon wants a stylish finale.
“If we can finish 12th it would be a remarkable turnaround from November 9 when we were adrift at the bottom,” said Concannon.
“We need to keep up the standards. People are playing for their places next season.”
