NORTH BERKS CUP ROUND-UP
HOLDERS Long Wittenham Athletic will get the chance to defend the trophy after a hard-fought 2-1 semi-final victory at home to Kintbury Rangers, writes Phil Annets.
The all-Division 1 tie went to extra-time after Charlie Allsop equalised Ryan Scott’s opener for Wittenham.
The hosts also missed a penalty, while Kintbury hit the bar in the closing seconds.
Eventually Tim Barton’s extra-time goal secured Witttenham’s place in the final on May 10 at Abingdon United.
Their opponents will be Dorchester, who overcame a spirited Drayton side, from Division 2, 1-0 courtesy of Josh Nicholls’s early strike.
Meanwhile, Jonny Eudell struck twice and Neil Davies scored the other as Division 1 side Ardington & Lockinge won 3-1 at Division 3 hosts Burghclere in their North Berks Charity Shield quarter-final tie.
Kye Franklin replied for the home side.
East Hendred triumphed 3-1 in their all Division 2 North Berks War Memorial Cup quarter-final against Wantage Town A.
Ben Hummel, Mike Farrelly and Marc Reid all found the net. Jamie Wilkins replied.
