Oxfordshire Under 14s slipped to a 2-0 defeat against Dorset in the Reed Trophy at Milton United.
Oxon fell behind after ten minutes when they failed to clear a corner, and Isaac Atherley drove the loose ball home.
The hosts dominated possession in the second half with Aaron Heap and Jack Buchanan working tirelessly in midfield, but Dorset increased their lead when a poor back-pass allowed Robinson Okumu to score.
Captain Ross McMahon led by example at the back, but Oxfordshire lacked penetration in attack.
James Spruyt sent a header over the bar when well placed and Heap tested the Dorset keeper from long range.
But Oxfordshire again failed to turn their possession into goals, and Dorset were able to preserve their lead.
