West Oxford Democrats Club kept up the pressure on Section 1 leaders Berinsfield Club with a 4-1 win at home to Masons A in the Johnson Buildbase Oxford League, writes PETE EWINS.
Dave Rose (5,530) beat Bob Parsons in the opener to give Berinsfield the lead.
But Democrats stormed back with wins by Eddie Tebby (3,790), Terry Green (4,200), Billy Hill (7,110) and John Patey (7,110), who leads the way with ten wins from 13 games.
Third-placed Gladiators Club A went down 3-2 at home to Vikings Club.
Mike Jones (8,180), Bob Allsworth (8,970) and Ian Moss (13,260) were victorous for Vikings.
Frank Cox and Bert Lovegrove (13,320) replied for Gladiators.
Bottom club Masons B lost 3-2 at home to Didcot Conservative Club.
Jenny Florey, Stuart Florey (5,420) and Dennis Atkins (5,600) were Masons’ winners, with Martin Skyrme and Nigel Francombe, who beat Dave Tooke, on target for Didcot.
Pauline Withey top-scored with 9,120 in Kennington Club’s easy 5-0 home win over Section 2 side Gladiators Club B.
