David Hunt has added incentive to get a good result for Oxford United today after enduring a horror show on his last visit to Morecambe.

The full back was part of a Crawley Town side who were on the receiving end of a 6-0 drubbing at the Globe Arena in September 2011.

Hunt, who is set to continue a run in the side as a converted centre back, admits the memory of that afternoon will give the game an extra edge for him personally.

“Definitely,” he said. “It’s going to be tough, Morecambe’s a horrible place.

“The last time I played there I lost 6-0 with Crawley.

“Thankfully we still won promotion, but I know what to expect there and it’s going to be hostile.”

He added: “They are on a dip in form and it’s a great time to take them on.

“I would imagine the pitch isn’t going to be amazing, but we’re prepared for it.”

United had the unfamiliar feeling of returning from an away trip without anything to show for their efforts after losing 3-2 at Newport County on Tuesday night.

It was a first league setback on the road for 17 games.

Hunt is out to prove the result was a one-off as they look for the win which would keep the side in the automatic promotion places.

He said: “You take positives from it.

“I look at it in a way that maybe it’s a sign to say ‘we are up there near the top of the league and we need to make sure this is just one slip up and that’s it’.

“If we only have one away defeat all season, I don’t think that’s a bad record.

“There’s no reason why we can’t go on another run straight away and it’s something all the lads want to try and correct.”
