Ely Brown, who picked up a leg injury at Ascot on Saturday, has not suffered any serious damage, but is unlikely to run at the Cheltenham Festival.
Chipping Norton trainer Charlie Longsdon reported that scans done by vets in Lambourn on the leg where the nine-year-old had struck into himself had not shown any structural or tendon damage.
The gelding was in line for a crack at the Terry Biddlecombe National Hunt Chase.
Longsdon said: “It is far too early to say whether his season is now over, but I am guessing Cheltenham next month will be out of the question.
“We will see how the wound heals before making any decisions about end-of-season races.”
