OXFORDSHIRE Under 15s pulled off a thrilling victory over Berkshire at Eynsham to keep alive their hopes of reaching the National Shires League play-offs.
Knowing nothing more than a win would do, the match went right to the wire with Oxon eventually coming out on top 11-9.
The teams were level at 6-6 after the singles and mixed, with Oxon edging ahead 9-7 following three boys’ doubles successes.
The tight win was secured by Louise Atkins, of Drayton, and Natalia Mitchell, from Woodstock, who beat England duo Becky Holt and Samantha Petch 21-19, 21-13.
DIDCOT’S Dan Blair won gold in the Worcestershire Under 17 Silver event, beating Cheshire’s Chris Driver-Bellis 15-17, 15-11, 15-8.
Joe Roberts, of Brize Norton, and Ashley Garrison, from Witney, reached the semi-final of the boys’ doubles and took bronze.
Begbroke’s Sanjana Kini also won bronze in the girls’ doubles, with her partner, Anisha de Silva, of Bucks.
