OXFORD United begin their FA Youth Cup campaign with a local derby away to Didcot Town tonight (7.45).
Chris Allen’s side will start as favourites to progress into the second round after making a good start to the season.
Like the first team, they are top of their league and go into the game on the back of a 2-1 win at Cheltenham Town in the Youth Alliance Cup last Saturday.
But Didcot, whose side includes several players who used to be involved in the United youth set-up, will be out to spring a surprise.
They have won three ties to reach the first round. After getting past Kidlington and Binfield, goals from Taylor Janes and Lewis Wilcox secured a 2-1 win against Bournemouth last week.
Last season, the U’s reached the third round, before going out in a 3-1 defeat to Barnsley at Oakwell.
Admission to the Draycott Engineering Loop Meadow Stadium is £4 adults, £2 concessions and under 16s.
