DIDCOT Town crashed 7-1 away to Cirencester Town in their FA Trophy preliminary round replay.

Two goals on the stroke of half-time all but settled the issue.

Didcot’s hopes had already taken a knock when defender Sam Elkins limped out of the action on 24 minutes with a recurrence of his recent ankle injury. After an even opening 42 minutes, Chris Holland nodded past Kieran Beesley to put the home side one up.

Didcot were temporarily down to ten men with Nick Thorne receiving treatment when Steve Davies doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time.

Matt Blenford pulled one back with a decent strike on 50 minutes, but ex-Didcot player James Mortimer-Jones almost immediately made it 3-1 for Cirencester.

Sam Collier, with a brace, Lee Smith and Sean Wood, with the last kick of the game, added further goals to complete the Centurians’ scoring and a thoroughly miserable evening for Didcot.
