JON Meades is due to have surgery to correct an ankle injury after the Oxford United midfielder suffered a setback in his rehabilitation.
The 21-year-old tweeted from hospital in London this afternoon: "Ready to go under the knife. Hopefully sort my ankle out."
It is a blow for Meades, who damaged ligaments during a pre-season game against Coventry City in July.
Specialists at the time ruled out the need for surgery and the summer signing was expected to return by late October, but the latest development means he will have to wait longer for his competitive U's debut.
