WHEATLEY held on to beat visitors Faringdon 17-8 in their BB&O Championship derby.
No 8 Jason Wilson crashed over for Wheatley’s opening try, but Faringdon hit back with a penalty from Darren Clark.
Wheatley struck decisively with tries from Adam Muir and Nick Banton either side of half-time, with Muir converting the latter.
Rhys Lewis’s try gave Faringdon hope, but Wheatley sealed the physical battle.
Josh Witts scored a try and added four conversions as Didcot beat Winslow 33-10.
Didcot’s other tries came from Ronnie Booth, Greg Arthy, Frankie Dorrian and Andy Pynegar.
Harwell’s unbeaten run was ended by a tentative 35-5 defeat at Risborough.
A try from scrum half Rob Froud-Williams was all Harwell had to show for their efforts, while Risborough bagged six tries, a conversion and a penalty.
Abingdon went top after receiving a walkover from Crowthorne OTHER SCORERS.
