CHINNOR stayed second in National 2 South, despite losing their unbeaten record with a 20-13 defeat at Canterbury.

Fly half Will Millett’s late penalty earned Chinnor a losing bonus point, keeping them a point behind leaders Clifton, who also lost for the first time.

Millett put Chinnor ahead with an eighth-minute penalty, but Canterbury were soon in charge.

Scrum half Grant Kay went over for the first try on 13 minutes.

Eight minutes later, centre Charlie Harding converted his own effort and then added a second try for good measure.

Canterbury lost wing Angus Furneaux to a neck injury.

But it was 20-3 when Harding slotted a 41st-minute penalty.

Canterbury prop Mark Livesey and Chinnor centre Leo Fielding were both yellow-carded two minutes later.

Chinnor rang the changes and gave themselves hope when Millett converted his own try on 69 minutes.

Canterbury held on, despite having No 8 Rob Lennox sin-binned.
