Didcot Town have to do it all over tomorrow night after Saturday’s FA Trophy preliminary-round clash at the Draycott Engineering Loop Meadow Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw.

With 13 minutes left and leading through a Lance Williams goal, Didcot looked to have done enough, only for Steve Davies to level.

The home side, who are bottom of Division 1 South & West, started with a bang and went ahead early on. Taylor Janes’s corner was headed home at the near post by Williams.

Didcot’s Louis Joyce should have doubled their lead, but he fired into the side netting from close-range.

However, Cirencester began to exert themselves and it was they who dominated both possession and chances for the most of the game.

Sam Collier volleyed wide on 33 minutes, before Davies and sub Aiden Bennett were both denied by two brilliant saves from Kieran Beesley in the Didcot goal.

Didcot should have settled things early in the second half, but Nick Thorne fired wide from eight yards.

Cirencester went up a gear and Didcot were left hanging on to their lead.

Beesley tipped a goalbound effort from Davies onto the bar and then Bennett headed over from a corner.

Just when it looked as though the home side might hold out, Davies swept home the equaliser.

Incredibly, Didcot could have won the game in stoppage time.

Sub Matt Blenford found himself clean through, but his low effort hit keeper Glyn Garner on the legs and the ball bounced to safety.

The winners of tomorrow’s replay travel to Egham Town (Middx) in the first round on October 19.
