A WIN over Lancashire was the highlight of Oxon Under 11s visit to the Taunton festival.

The youngsters suffered two defeats, a winning and a losing draw. But they saw off the Red Rose county by three wickets.

Lancashire batted first and Oxon bowlers Harry Startin 3-23 and Luke Maslen 2-24 ripped through the top order.

A fine run out from Caspar Mason left Lancs on 79-9, but a partnership of 69 between Harvey Rankin (33no) and Nathan Pickering (29) took the score to 148 all out.

After losing William Woodley, Daniel Rowley and James Bridson steadied the Oxon ship and took the total to 49-2 and then 58-3. Maslen and Mason reached 80 before the latter was out. This brought in Felix Foot and he and Maslen turned the match.

They quickly put on 48 before Foot was out for 21. Maslen, unbeaten on 60, saw Oxon home.
