KEITH Hill was delighted with the response from his players after falling behind to Oxford United.

Rochdale had not picked up an away point before the weekend and looked to be on their way to another defeat when James Constable put the U’s in front.

But the visitors hit back after the break through Matthew Lund to earn a share of the points.

Hill was pleased with his players’ efforts and felt they had done enough to win the game.

He said: “Their goal, for me, was against the run of play, but I’m glad with the response and the performance levels of the players.

“You can either go one way or the other.

“You can go under, but I have got characters out there, good football players who manipulate the ball and try to play the right way.

“There will be games where we lose, but we are always going to be competitive.”

The game reinforced the Spotland manager’s belief that there is little to separate sides in Sky Bet League Two.

He said: “The league is marginal with respect to who is the best team and who is the worst.

“I think it will be like that all season and I don’t necessarily believe the best footballing side will win the league.”
