Adam Lovegrove smashed four of Oxford City Nomads’ goals as they moved up to second in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division with an 8-0 thrashing of Abingdon Town on Saturday.

Strikes from John Rixon, Jack Self, Ben Moses and an own goal completed the rout, which saw their Oxfordshire rivals slip to second from bottom of the table.

With morning leaders Wantage Town not in action, Reading Town went three points clear at the top with a 2-1 win at Newbury.

Ben Connolly scored a hat-trick for Thame United as they stormed to a 4-2 victory at Brimscombe & Thrupp.

An own goal completed their tally with the hosts replying late on through Karl Nash and Ashley Caldwell.
