Headington's Gary May saw his run in the Two Wood Singles Championship come to an end in the last 16 with a 16-9 defeat by Ben Render (Nafferton, Yorkshire) at Worthing.
He had reached the third round by beating Wootton Bassett’s Dave Snell 17-12, after seeing off Scott Dunham (Carters Park, Lincolnshire) 15-8 in round one.
Banbury Borough’s Mark Sykes went out 17-10 to Paul Barnicott (Milton Regis, Kent) in the second round.
He had defeated Lee Haywood (Shaldon, Devon) 15-12 in his opener.
Hagbourne’s Steve Gibson was also a second-round casualty, going out 17-8 to Nafferton’s Dominic Kelly.
He had edged past William Joy (Sawston, Cambridgeshire) 16-13 in round one.
Oxford City & County’s Paul Comley bowed out 21-12 to Chris Lewars (Walker Park, Northumberland) in the Singles Championship first round.
Banbury Borough’s Richard Redford went out 21-7 to Grant Burgess (Chester Road, Worcestershire) at the same stage, having defeated John Attrill (Sandown, Isle of Wight) 21-10 in the preliminary round.
Oxfordshire’s Katherine Hawes, Jackie Harrington, Nathan Lewis and Howard Watts lost 25-13 to Devon’s Sophie Tolchard, Lorraine Hackett, Phil Hackett and Sam Tolchard in the Mixed Fours quarter-finals.
