Oxford University Press’s Marlon James was sent off in their Premier Division clash after an incident which left Launton Sports’s Denny Bishop with bite marks on a shoulder.

The flashpoint came after 75 minutes of the match at Launton, which the hosts won 4-0.

Launton were already three goals ahead when James reacted strongly to a tackle from Bishop.

“It was a hard challenge, but a fair one,” said Launton boss Danny Clifford.

“I heard that the bloke was sorry for what he had done, but he needs to apologise to us.

“I don’t want to create a fuss about it, but something needs to be done about it.”

League press officer Brian Kirk confirmed an incident had taken place.

He said: “There was a clash after a rough tackle from behind and one of the players has lashed out while they were still on the floor.

“I believe the player was very remorseful and apologised to the other player and the referee after the match.

“Obviously the matter is with the OFA (Oxfordshire Football Association) now and if there is any further action to be taken they will be the ones to do that.”

A spokesperson for the OFA said they are still waiting for a report of the incident before making any comment.

No-one at OUP was available for comment.

Ben Dawe scored twice for Launton, with Nick Allsworth and Jack Meeks completing their tally.

Chalgrove are still to pick up a point after losing their second game of the season 3-1 at home to Horspath.

Elliott O’Brien gave the visitors the lead after 15 minutes, collecting the ball on the edge of the area before firing a fantastic curled effort past goalkeeper Luke Hutt.

And Horspath put some gloss on the result with late goals from Aaron Lamen and Noel Fox, before Nick Skiller pulled one back in the dying minutes.

Oakley came from behind to beat Bletchingdon 2-1 and maintain their 100 per cent start to the season.

It was Bletchingdon who struck first after Oakley failed to effectively clear their lines, finding Adam Wells lurking on the edge of the box to slot home.

But the hosts dominated the second half and pulled themselves level almost immediately after the restart.

Jay Hill side-footed in from eight yards, before Paul Brown completed the comeback with a coolly-taken penalty.

Goals either side of half-time helped Adderbury Park continue their fine start to the season, beating visitors Marston Saints 2-0.

Josh Bowden headed Adderbury into the lead shortly before half-time, slipping in between two defenders to meet a flick-on.

Gavin Connor doubled the lead just after the interval, breaking down the left before cutting inside and smashing the ball past the keeper at his near post.
