Oxford City manager Mike Ford believes his side haven’t got the results their performances have deserved so far this season, writes MATTHEW BRUCE.

City are still yet to win a game this season after being beaten 1-0 at home by local rivals Brackley Town in Skrill North yesterday.

They have picked up just one point from four games, and are now in the bottom three.

But Ford believes that they won’t have to wait much longer for their first victory.

“We ran a top side close this afternoon,” he said.

“We looked much more solid today, but it’s just disappointing that all your efforts end up with nothing.

“I’m disappointed because we should have got something from the game, but I’m also pleased because the performance was much better as a group. Everything I’ve asked them to do they did.

“Their attitude was spot-on today, and if you take bits out of all four games and put them all together then we’ll win one soon.”

And after naming a different starting XI in each of City’s four games so far, Ford believes he now has a clear idea of his favoured line-up.

He added: “I spent last night and this morning mulling over what shape to play, what team to play and I came up with a team today that I thought did almost enough to get something out of it.

“The team that gets picked next week won’t be very far away from that one because we’re now saying that if you play well you stay in the side and if you don’t then you’re not in the side.

“Lads get disappointed when they’re not in the side, but they’ve got to realise that there are reasons they’re not in the team, and they will always get told if they ask what those reasons are.

“I had some young players on the bench today, who didn’t respond very well to being a sub and were sulking because they weren’t in the team.

“If they’re going to sulk, they can sulk somewhere else.”
